Rave Reviews for Munich Recital Debut

Posted on

William Berger started the second part of his tour of Germany with Julius Drake at the Gasteig in Munich on Monday, 2nd March 2015. The Gasteig is the largest cultural centre in Munich, hosting several concert halls, a library and the college for further education.

It was William’s recital debut in Munich and the audience was enchanted by his performance. The varied programme started with three Lieder by Schubert and continued with Dvorák’s Zigeunerlieder. A selection of French melodies rounded off the first half of the concert. After the interval, Mahler’s Rückert-Lieder and Jonathan Dove’s humorous song cycle All You Who Sleep Tonight concluded the concert evening.

The audience was enthralled by the music and demanded three encores before letting the artists off stage. One audience member told us after the concert: “Two incredibly good musicians in beautifully harmonious interplay” Another new fan raved: “The concert was wonderful. Both the singing and the piano accompaniment were excellent. I would be overjoyed if William Berger and Julius Drake returned to Munich very soon.”

William and Julius’ next stop on their tour will be the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg. Visit the Eventim website to secure your tickets for the concert.
