In February the Luzerner Theatre in Switzerland launched their premiere of Bizet’s Carmen with William Berger in the role of Escamillo. His performance was described by the Oper Aktuell as ‘a vocally outstanding Escamillo’ who ‘plays the unsympathetic groper and power seeker convincingly and despicably.’ Die Südostschweiz concluded that his performance was ‘impeccable’, and Ruta Akelyte Hermann from Operapoint felt that ‘Escamillo was well cast with the masterful William Berger who was able to demonstrate a pleasant timbre as well as the strength of his voice in Votre toast, je peux vous le rendre.
