Return to Paxton
William will be making a much anticipated return to the Music at Paxton Festival tomorrow evening where he will be performing two concerts in Paxton House’s stunning picture gallery to open this year’s festival.
William made his debut at Music at Paxton last summer when he also celebrated the launch of his first solo album with a performance of “Insomnia: A Nocturnal Voyage” accompanied by Iain Burnside. This year he will be joined by pianist Alasdair Beatson for an early evening performance of folksong inspired music by Dvorak, Ravel and De Falla.
Following this first recital at 5pm, William will perform with the renowned Endellion Quartet in a full evening concert at 7:45pm. The programme will include two of the key works for baritone and string quartet – Respighi’s Il Tramonto and Barber’s Dover Beach. After the interval, William and Alasdair Beatson will juxtapose Schubert’s poignant song setting of Death and the Maiden with the string quartet by the same name.
You can listen to a podcast here where William talks about his previous experience of performing at Paxton, and how much he is looking forward to this year’s concerts.
